Lao Tzu

Image
English translation: "Still contemplating about 「上善若水」,  I saw May's card on her Instagram, my heart was filled with resonance. Yesterday, I finally met her in person at the Markham Welcome Centre and listened to her stories about each card, how precious!" "I used to live in Tai O, Hong Kong, (the fishing village), where the water was very beautiful. My parents immigrated to the UK, also by the water, beautiful too!” Feeling connected. 「上善若水」 translated by getting help from Meta AI  "Laozi: The highest virtue is like water." This week, I've been envying a state: 'I am water.'  “Flowing effortlessly, trickling long, nourishing wherever I pass, even through tiny crevices, but I...

Awakening

2024-06-09                      2024-06-08 I said to this sprout: “ I won’t disturb you. I know you are beautiful.”  A quiet friend in the group shared our relationship with the land.  “ If you talk to the plant she will grow more beautifully”. I was awakened. “Add oil, dear sprout!” C gave a cheer.           2024-06-08 It was Jun 7, Two days ago we had our first gathering of reading Planetwise. There were few moments I experienced big impact. This is the first one.  I just had the phone call today with little daughter from Vancouver. I told her what happened in the last two days. I did not tell her the name of my friends in the reading group when I shared my story. She responded that those quiet people observe many th...

I have no feeling when looking at these three words. However, this morning I woke up  with different feelings.  A scenario came to me that my 4 year old grandson woke up and looked at his dad and mom. There's a kind of trust, peace, comfort, and shared togetherness, and then the little boy kisses his parents, it's just a strong desire to express the feeling of love..." "I'm filled with wonder, as I contemplate the beauty of God's creation - the flowers, grass, trees, sunlight, squirrels and sparrows….As I come to understand the intricate web of relationships between them, I can't help but wonder how this newfound awareness will transform my spiritual journey....

What you see 看見什麼

“How do you feel?” I sent out the above picture to my team members when I was making the plastic chain. I was pretty depressed that evening when I looked at them. I must seek some strength or support by talking to my team. I cannot handle this strong emotion by myself. “ I have a strange feeling. The plant is beautiful and growing no matter what, even facing restriction, it keeps growing!” She is always quiet but woke me up with few words!   I am awakened! My perspective is totally changed.  Not depressed, but vitality! .

Vitality 生機

“Micro-plastic can go into our brain affecting our health”, a research information shard by a quiet member in our ‘creation care 120’ team triggered my painful emotions. Though I have no artmaking training background at all, I want to express this emotion. But I am shy! 「yc有一顆童心, 出嘅作品一定好真!」S said.  “ you have a child like heart. Your artwork will be authentic.” So I draft the  initial thought . I went to the exhibition of OCAD U graduates. I learnt that artwork can be  on-going meditation . Big thanks to Piget Bowen. Next day I was  inspired  by an indigenous artist, Alexis Nanibush-Pamajewong.  From the very beginning, my idea of this artwork is that it has to be a collective effort. I want to express that this cannot be done alone. Creation care has to be done  together . True, When we  care for one another , More ideas, energy and strength emerges. It r...

*Spirit See Red (Drum) sculpture by Alexis Nanibush-Pamajewong, Indigenous Visual Culture, OCAD U May 6, 2024 I attended the exhibition by graduates 2nd time, the second day after the opening night. I don‘t know what intention or the meaning behind when the artist created this artwork. But when I look at this, immediately, I see this, it is a drum, representing indigenous traditions are being restricted by locks and chains. But when I look at it more closely all along the chains, it is the red beads string. Tenderly it goes along the cold and strong chain! Walking along the path. I’m struck by this artwork. I keep holding it in my heart with on-going contemplation. ————— * I learnt the title of this artwork when I check the website of the artist Alexis Nanibush-Pamajewong.

My Artwork Process

Neck pain after cutting plastic and making them into chains for 20 minutes, I was not aware my neck had already complained for a while when I was focusing. I had to look for my brush in order to paint the varnish on the “planet”, left lower back pain! Apply pain oilment and hot red bean bag. Give my body a break.  We cannot extract too much resources from the planet. Give her a break! Sitting down to do visual art is not for me, for sure. That‘s why 20 years ago I started to learn Playback Theatre. I move my body while doing creative art.
